Biography
Philippa Dickens
Hope you have enjoyed browsing my work and hopefully let yourself be transported to the coast for a few moments to dream.......
My initial ideas for a piece are often shaped by the experience of being in a certain place or perhaps from the emotive feelings inspired by the people and places around me.
The larger pieces have been created in direct response to the feeling of open space, an overwhelming sky or the sense of peace and solitude.
Oils are my chosen medium. I adore the ability to build layers, often abandoning the brush in favour of a painting knife mixing and moving the paint across the panel to give depth and movement. The final subtlety reached only with my fingertips, softening and blending to create "a pool of water" or
a beautiful sky.
I love the way places are transformed by light, the impact of changing weather on the surrounding landscape. Have a look at the painting " Contemplation" and " Into the light", where the horizon appears to disappear along with ones thoughts......
I keep my website regularly updated with new work, and upcoming exhibitions. Commisions undertaken if I feel I can fulfil them.
Please keep in touch and feel free to leave comments.
Studied : Chelsea School of Art
Recent Exhibitions : - GALLERY 7, Oxfordshire
- OXFORD ARTWEEKS
- BIX MANOR, Henley
